EfC 10th Anniversary Celebration | January 2019 | London

CUK carer confident logo stacked

 
Employers for Carers (EfC), celebrated its 10th anniversary this week and marked the occassion with the launch of Carer Confident, the first UK-wide employer benchmarking scheme of its kind.
 
This pioneering scheme recognises and accredits UK employers who have built carer friendly and inclusive workplaces.
 
Over the last decade, EfC has gone from strength to strength, with a membership today of over 115 organisations from a wide range of sectors, and a reach of over 1.5 million employees. This includes a growing number of ‘umbrella’ members, extending access to EfC resources to hundreds of SMEs and health partners in their localities. The forum is therefore truly starting to engage employers of all shapes and sizes, although there is much more work to do.
 

EfC’s 10th anniversary and the launch of Carer Confident was marked on Tuesday 29 January by an event in London's Westminster, addressed by the Minister of State for Care, Caroline Dinenage MP. The event was kindly supported by Centrica.

Highlighting the achievements of the forum, and those employers who have led the way in supporting carers in their workplaces, the event was also addressed by: Ian Peters, EfC Chair; Caroline Waters OBE, Deputy Chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission and former EfC Chair; Helen Walker, Chief Executive, Carers UK; and Dave Kirwan, MD of Customer Operations, Centrica and Executive Sponsor of the company’s Employee Carers Network.
